About this resource
If you’re looking for a fun and engaging sewing tools activity, this sewing tools and equipment worksheet is the perfect way to introduce key concepts in your classroom. This hands-on match up activity helps students actually understand their tools — not just memorise them.
I created this resource to build confidence at the start of a Textiles Technology, Family & Consumer Sciences (FCS), or beginner sewing unit, while keeping students engaged and actively learning.
How to use this resource
This is super flexible and easy to run in your classroom:
- Print and cut the sewing tools matching cards (tool name, image, and function)
- Have students work in pairs or small groups to complete the match up activity
- Turn it into a timed challenge or competitive classroom game
- Follow up with the sewing tools worksheet booklet to reinforce learning
- Great as a no prep lesson, station rotation, sub plan, or review activity
